Eat Your Garden Pot Luck Galore on January 24, 2015 in Rangiora
The only thing better than home cooked food is sharing a lot of home cooked food with others! - And how about if it was grown in your own backyard?
Another SCC super pot luck get together to show off your gardening and animal raising skills and creating and sharing what you can do with it. It is about your best mains dishes.
The best attended SCC functions have always been pot luck / food dominated events - wonder why ….
And of course, what better thing to do having a good natter while eating yummy scrummy belly delights.
Date : Saturday 24 January 2015
Where : Rangiora in the lovely garden and home of one of our SCC members
When : start 4 pm
Who all members and friends of the SCC, sure you can bring your granny, nanny, and many
Idea: Bring at least one large (!) pot of your favourite signature mains dish
Ideally your dish contains home grown ingredients like vegie or poultry or lamb (but not hot dogs ...) but it is not essential.
You are a big group or family? Please bring two or more mains dishes - it’s got to be enough to feed all and everyone.
A good sized mains dish (or more) is the key. Salads + Desert are optional but this is not a ‘salad + desert’ pot luck event.
Why a large dish? So that everyone can have a taste of everything, including you …
What else to bring?
Happy smiling faces and be hungry and young little kids and big kids and mature well aged tall kids too
Drinks - please bring drinks to share - a small and limited supply of tea or coffee is provided by SCC
Sauces - maybe your special sambal or dressing can enhance the taste range
Tupperware - for left overs to share amongst all and take home (better too much food than not enough)
Rubbish bag - if everyone brings one rubbish bag and taking it to their home bins will help a lot
Helping spirit - shared work by many hands is easy work
Gold coin - to help cover our costs - yeah, it’s voluntary
Single and / or shy your cooking may not be good enough?
You are welcome! In fact we want everyone to join! Email us and we figure out what you can contribute …
This is a KIS event - Keep It Simple event. The SCC is run by volunteers, not servants, so this event is all about facilitating and all work is shared. Your little bit of help on the day will make it good for all.
And as this event is at a private house, if you have, please bring your camping chair, plates, cutlery, and drinking vessels etc as the host most probably does not have enough to cater for all of us.
Will there be more such events? You bet!
Next one is probably soon after CNY - Yee Sang anyone?
